Thinking and healing the symptoms of the body through an approach to the mind: at the crossroads of psychology, psychoanalysis, neuroscience and medicine. How can we better care for somatic patients? This is the theme of this book, designed to help doctors and therapists better understand the relationship between body and mind, thanks to a new theoretical and clinical approach: integrative psychosomatics. This approach combines psychology, psychoanalysis, neuroscience and medicine to provide a comprehensive response that's better adapted to the patient. It has been developed over the last 30 years at the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital, in the context of a psychosomatic consultation open to all hospital departments.
Through the study of neuropsychosomatic and neuropsychoanalytic models, the role of masochism in somatization processes, narcissism, female sexuality... Jean Benjamin Stora presents the different intervention frameworks and devices that can be integrated into his clinic to support the patient.
